You may have big dreams of overhauling your home's decor to create the kind of fabulous space you see on home improvement TV shows, but your budget may pull your plans back into reality.  The good news is that even on a tight budget, there are plenty of ways to spruce up a room and add new life to your decor.

Add a splash of color.  Colorful artwork, throw pillows or paint can add zest to a bland room.  You can even paint just one wall as an accent to add dimension and draw attention to that side of the room.

Move things around.  One of the biggest ways to change a room for free is to simply rearrange the furniture and wall hangings.  Move the couch away from the wall, put the bed at a new angle, or simply move artwork to another position for an instant new look and feel.

Update fixtures.  New fixtures, like a ceiling fan, light, knobs on the cabinets or a faucet in the bathroom or kitchen, can create a different look for a low price.

Lighten up a little.  A lamp or two can work wonders to give a room a fresh look.  If you don't have room for lamps, hang a mirror on the wall to reflect light.
